Cool soulful house sounds from 2002. Top vocals. (Apologies, this isn't the correct cover but don't have the image at the moment)
Rhianna Word Love (Jay's Extended Mix)
Nice remix by Grame Park. Going for decent sums of money as well this..
The Brand New Heavies Back To Love (Graeme Park Remix)
Whether you like it or not this is a stonecold classic. Morales on the mix. Rips off the bassline from Ce Ce Rogers Someday as well, only noticed that recently..
Ce Ce Peniston Finally
One of the first commercial 'house music' hits I believe. Classic.
Farley 'Jackmaster' Funk & Jessie Saunders Love Can't Turn Around
If you were into hip hop since the Electro days as I was you were probably loving this when it came out. These were in the days when you just didn't hear 'cut up' records like this. The video was ace as well as far as I remember (nips over to Youtube..) Yes it is.. Classic tune, love the break at 2.32...
MARRS Pump Up The Volume
A real masterpiece from Shades Of Rhythm in club music terms. This had everything. Sing a long vocal, piano, breakbeat and a nice female vocal samples. Top drawer old skool.
Shades Of Rhythm The Sound Of Eden
Classic piano old skool tune! Samples Pink Floyd, Afrika Bambaata and Talking Heads...I think..
Bassheads Is There Anybody Out There
The Def Club Mix of Mariah Carey's Dreamlover. Another winning remix from David Morales.
Mariah Carey Dreamlover (Def Club Mix)
Another disco house bomb. The breakdown at about 5 minutes in is absolutely wicked..Samples Sylvia Striplin's Give Me Your Love...
Full Intention Prersents Deep Down Give Me Your Love
Sylvia Striplin Give Me Your Love (Champagne) 1980
Samples Patrice Rushen's WINNER of a tune Haven't You Heard. Great disco house.
Daddy's Favourite I Feel Good Things For You
Patrice Rushen Haven't You Heard (Elektra) 1979
You try your best not to like the French then these pesky guys get in the way. Typical. Here they give us a master class in funky as f*ck disco house and in the process teach us how to use filters to full effect. Brilliant.
Nice 12" on XL from 1991. Not only does it have Charly on here but other killer cuts. Your Love which is yet another classic rave era piano smash and also Pandemonium which was quite tasty as well! Classic rave..
The Prodigy Your Love
The Prodigy Pandemonium
Classic using Whitney Houston's vocals from Love Will Save The Day. Big piano house. Mine was on a white label so maybe these are different mixes..
Brothers In Rhythm Peace And Harmony
Brothers In Rhythm - Peace And Harmony(Everlasting Love Mix)
Yet another piano anthem from Italy. One of the biggest from the old skool this one.
A.S.H.A. J.J. TRIBUTE (Asha JJ Tribute)
Thursday, 29 November 2007
Another Italian slammer from the FPI Project. If you were lucky enough to get it there was an EP out with all 3 of their big ones-Risky, Everybody (All Over The World) and Rich In Paradise! This is another absolute classic piano anthem.
FPI Project Risky
Undeniable classic. Bootsy Colins appears on this classic track along with samples from Herbie Hancock..I think...and also Q-Tip from A Tribe Called Quest. Also there is a remix here that wasn't on the 12" and only on a promo EP as far as I'm aware.
Deee-Lite Groove Is In The Heart(Remix)
Deee-Lite Groove Is In The Heart
This was massive on every single club circuit. Timo pulls something special out of the bag here with this dark dirty bassline remix killer! Sounds like someone sawing a piece of wood yet we all thought it was ace. And it is ace.
Azzido Da Bass Dooms Night (Timo Maas Remix)
What a classic this one is. The mighty voice of diva Jocelyn Brown. Amazing.
Incognito feat Jocelyn Brown Always There (Morales Mix)

A lesson in how top make soulful deep house. This is an awesome record. It is on the World Series UK Mixes on Hed Kandi on an amazing house mix. Find it, you won't regret it.
Blue Six Music & Wine (Naked Music)
Classic house again from Inner City. Winner from 1988. I've opted for Magic Juan's mix which was on the B Side.
Inner City Good Life (Magic Juan Mix)
Classi house music from 1991. The soul hip hop mix was wicked as well, will post that soon.
Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam Let The Beat Hit 'Em
Two mixes here of old skool breakbeat action. I preferred the Blappstramental. Loaded with beats, samples and scratches this is a classic.
Blapps Posse Don't Hold Back (Blappstramental)
Blapps Posse Don't Hold Back
These two tunes were seemingly made for each other. Never has a bootleg sounded so good as this one did. Candi Staton's You Got The Love a cappella over Frankie Knuckle's Your Love. Worked an absolute treat and still does. A tune that still sounds good today, largely down to the power of the two tracks used. CLASSIC.
The Source feat Candi Staton You Got The Love (Erin's Bootleg Mix)
One of house music's finest moments. Absolutely beautiful. House was just so soulful in these days. Almost the equivalent of Martin Luther Kings I have A Dream speech, Ce Ce really moves us with this song. Fantastic stuff. The timeless piano and vocal has been sampled many times and to good effect. Liquid's Sweet Harmony was a massive tune back in the hardcore/rave days and so was Urban Shakedown's Some Justice. Possibly the best house tune ever.
Ce Ce Rogers Someday
Dee Patten's classic breakbeat tune. Samples Jimmy Cliff from the great Jamaican film The Harder They Come. The breakbeat is the Apache break that is arguably the number one breakbeat for the hip hop b-boys.

Last one from the old skool before I hit the sack....Viola Wills It's My Pleasure..Loved her classic Dare To Dream from the mid 80's and was surprised to hear her on a house tune. This was a big one on the old skool circuit I seem to remember. Great tune, real and raw soul coming through in Viola's vocals. Incidentally Dare To Dream is here.
My Friend Sam featuring Viola Wills It's My Pleasure
What an absolute killer from Swing City this was/is. Mica Paris on vocals as well! This was absolutely massive and sounds awesome in a club. This is a record not to be forgotten, I will stick my neck out now and call it a classic. Because that's what it is.
M Gee Feat Mica Paris Bodyswerve
I would suspect that the majority of planet earth know this record. This is one record a DJ should never leave home without. You never know when you might need that trump card as you accidentally took the wrong record off the deck AGAIN. Classic soul groover from the late 80's.
Mantronix Got To Have Your Love
MASSIVE anthem from Jocelyn Brown on the label of the day Subliminal. Explodes after the organ at the start with the help of Chuck D's booming voice and a funky guitar. Then in comes Jocelyn and we have a serious tune on our hands. Wicked funky house.
Ministers De La-Funk Featuring Jocelyn Brown Believe
Got a feeling that the version I am posting here is from a white label and not the version on this Urban label. Anyway this was a MASSIVE piano anthem back in the old days. Soulful vocal over that classic riff used to go down very well indeed. Also had a nice build up that you could recognise coming in as well. This ensured the stragglers from the toilet/bar/on the ceiling/asleep could make it to the dancefloor on time for the piano drop..BANG! Absolute classic for the old skool crew.
Jimi Polo Better Days
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel (Sugarhill) 1981
Having a sh*t night behind the decks? No one dancing? Stop that record that no one is listening to, play this one, go for a p*ss. When you come back everyone will be dancing..Grandmaster Flash with his ace cut up on Sugarhill. If you think P Diddy invented the remix then maybe you need to think again. Or stop being so f*cking stupid.
Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five The Adventures Of Grandmaster Flash On The Wheels Of Steel
Mine is on Chillifunk records but this is the best image I could find! Marvellous soulful house tune this from 2001. From the beginning you can tell you're onto something special with this one. Great sounds he uses on this. The lyrics are killer as well. Check 'em out.
Nathan Haines Feat Verna Francis Earth Is The Place (Peaktime Mix)
